Below is
a list of the Main Events & Fiestas
in the village of
Cómpeta
& other
villages nearby
Competa
January
5th - "Los Reyes Magos",
"Three Kings Night" the most important night
of the year for the children, because
on the 6th they get their presents!. On the
evening of the 5th the Three Kings go through the
village dispensing sweets to the children,
replete with carrier bags!, you can really touch
the excitement.
January
20th (Sunday nearest to that date) - Feria del Barrio
March
or April - "Semana
Santa" "Easter week", throughout the
week, flower laden floats adorning the holy statues
are carried through the streets, and in Cómpeta, the
highlight of the week is the Passion play. The main
story is enacted in the main plaza by the villagers.
Our local priest takes the lead role and when the
cross is carried by him to the top of the hill behind
the village for the final moment, the audience become
part of the cast. this is an experience not to be
missed.

Church.
July -
Hoy es Fiesta!,
It´s Feria month,
all the villages take turns to host the fair, some for
two nights, some for four or more. Everyone
goes and if you have the stamina you can party all
night!.
July 16th
- July is also "Virgen del Carmen" when
all along the coast, the "Virgen" is carried from the
Church and paraded through the streets on a flower
decked float, followed by the townsfolk and taken out
to sea to bless the harvest this is followed by a
firework display. (Caletta & Nerja) are the
